A brand new website won’t show up on the first page of Google for a while…that’s the bad news. There are several reasons for this which we will briefly discuss here. But it comes down to SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

Think of Google’s ranking system as a points system. The more things you do right on the website and in other fields, the more points you get which will rank you higher in that particular keyword/s segment.

Once a new website is launched, we first and foremost go to Google and request that they crawl and index (More on that here) the site. The indexing process can take anywhere from 4 days to 4 weeks, and truthfully, there’s no shortcut here. It’s in Google’s hands here and we can’t speed up the process, but once the site is crawled and indexed, the website will appear on Google but this is where SEO steps in as the website won’t feature high up on the search result for at least 6-18 months, depending on various factors.

  5. Backlinks: Another strategy to grab Google’s attention is to link to your site from as many other websites as feasible. The greater the number, the better. To obtain backlinks, you don’t need to use any unethical, black hat SEO techniques. All you’ll need is some time and effort. Let’s start with the most obvious. Check all of your social networking accounts, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, for links to your website. Then start upgrading your profiles on sites like Manta, Yelp, and your local Chamber of Commerce. If you just roll up your sleeves and do some digging, there are plenty of options for simple backlinks.
  6. Content: In two ways, having high-quality, valuable content on your website improves your search engine exposure. For starters, it provides raw data for Google’s search engine crawlers to ingest and index in their database. For many search phrases, one well-written piece of content might result in page 1 placements on Google. Second, a high-quality piece of content might result in other website owners or bloggers linking to your site. Backlinks are one of the primary ways Google determines if a website’s content is valuable and deserving of a page 1 ranking.
